After two weeks in various tropical paradises, no one wants to think about colder temps less than I do. The one wonderful thing about it getting colder, though, is all of the upcoming holidays and festivals. Usually at this time of year, I promote a "Christmas Card Special" in order to get you ready for your annual letters. It's a great way to just make sure you are chronicling your family's development, too.
This year, I'm very excited to announce a couple of extra opportunities in addition to my annual Christmas Card special: I will be setting up "shop" with my studio lights and everything at a couple of venues. It will be the quickest and least expensive session available. Images will be sent to you via email. They will be yours to do with as you please. As always, you can print with me or with your favorite printer. You will also have a chance to look at it at the time of the shoot and we can retake it if someone is making a weird face.
$20 for the initial image and $5 for each additional (great for getting individual shots of the kids...). Reservations are HIGHLY recommended.
Locations and times:
Saturday, November 8, 10am-5pm: Garden Gallery "Holiday Harvest" 2721 N. 206th Street, Elkhorn.

If none of these times work for you, we are also taking reservations for our annualChristmas Card Special. During the month of November, book your half-hour session for just $70. Short, sweet, and ready for sending to grandparents, relatives, etc.
Classes! Want to know more? Have a camera but don't know how to use it? Group classes and one-on-one sessions are available starting in January. These classes make a great gift. Classes are two 2-hour sessions of your choice for $100.
Folks who enroll in any of these sessions will automatically be a member of the studio's photography club which will grant access to photography excursions and the private online posting room where members can give constructive feedback on work!
Tip of the month: Point-and-shoot play! Point-and-shoot cameras (fully automated and don't allow lens changes) get a "bad rap" for being the stuff of amateurs and not being able to manipulate images. Not true. I have an awesome point-and-shoot that I use for various reasons (including as a back-up camera). You can also have some creative control if you just know how to use it.
For the novices out there, play with the settings by taking a shot of the same image on every theme setting. It's a little tedious at first, but you'll begin to see the way the different settings manipulate the image. You'll begin to get your creative juices flowing and have a lot more fun. And, yes. The image above was taken with my point and shoot in the Caribbean last week. It was as delicious as it looks.
